Before you begin typing, you must learn a few basic things. Sit up straight, and if you can, place your feet firmly on the ground.

 

 

 

Older students: Place your fingers on the home row. The home row contains the letters asdf, and jkl;. The left index finger is placed on the letter "f". The right index finger is placed on the letter "j". the pinkies should be on "a" (for the left pinkie) and ";" (for the right pinkie). Your thumbs should be placed near the spacebar. Use your right thumb to press the spacebar. Also lift your hand off of the table while typing. See below for example.
