How to get a Library Card

Anyone permanently residing within Hancock County is eligible for a free library card! Bring a proof of address, such as a driver’s license or recent utility bill, to either HCPL location. If you live in Vernon Township, you will need to bring in your Vernon Township Public Library card.

Why do Vernon Township residents need a VTPL card?

All ages are eligible for a card. An adult card is for persons 18 years of age and older. Juvenile cards are for persons younger than 18. Applicants 12 and under require the signature and valid identification of a parent/guardian. Teens ages 13-17 who show a valid ID may apply for a card without a parent/guardian present.

To protect our patrons, no one may use anyone else’s card, even members of the same family.
