DESCRIPTION:Books to Badges: Girls Exploring Parks &amp; Possibility is a
  free, girls-only summer program for girls in grades K–3, created throug
 h a partnership between Girl Scouts of Central Indiana and the Hancock Co
 unty Public Library. Designed especially for girls who are new to Girl Sco
 uts, this engaging experience introduces families to the Girl Scout journe
 y through reading, outdoor exploration, and hands-on activities.This progr
 am is being built in connection with a Girl Scout Gold Award project at th
 e library, highlighting the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and demon
 strating the impact girls can make in their communities. It will also show
 case the many resources and opportunities available at the library, giving
  girls a chance to explore everything the library has to offer.Throughout 
 the series, girls will explore different national parks through books and 
 interactive activities while working toward earning National Park Service 
 Junior Ranger badges. In addition, all participants will earn their Girl S
 cout Reading Badge, strengthening literacy skills while discovering the wo
 nders of the outdoors.The program is open to all girls in grades K–3. Ne
 w Girl Scouts will receive a free summer membership, while current Girl Sc
 outs are welcome to participate in the program activities. A completed Gir
 l Scout registration form is required for participation in the series, whi
 ch you can download and print from this page or inquire at the Greenfield 
 Youth Desk. Following the program, families will have the opportunity to o
 pt in and continue their Girl Scout experience for the upcoming membership
  year.Books to Badges blends literacy, leadership, library exploration, a
 nd outdoor adventure into an exciting, no-cost introduction to Girl Scouts
  and the many possibilities available to girls.
