Program Description
Take a guided tour of the Local History & Genealogy Room at the Hancock County Public Library. During this 60-minute program, we will explore the room’s unique ephemera and artifacts, highlight our four cataloged collections, and discuss how collection items are evaluated, curated, and occasionally weeded. We will also discuss how community members can contribute to the collection, including the kinds of historically meaningful materials we seek. Participants will learn how this specialized space supports genealogists researching Hancock County families and those tracing roots worldwide.
Behind the Scenes Hancock is an adults-only series that gives members of our community opportunities to learn more about the inner workings of local businesses and organizations—without the need to sign up to chaperone a school group!
