Program Description

The Hancock County Master Gardener Association invites you to a crash course on Winter Sowing. Winter Sowing is a simple technique using plastic milk jugs, soil, water, and seeds to create a mini winter greenhouse. Each attendee will go home with a mini-greenhouse to put outside. Come early spring, you will have native plant seedlings to put in your garden. The Master Gardeners believe in this practice because it uses common household items, recycling them for sustainable gardening. All materials needed for the class will be provided at no cost. Ideas about landscaping with native plants will also be provided.

A satellite session for this workshop will also be held in Vernon Township at 602 Vitality Drive, Fortville, IN 46040 (the Trustee's Office next to the fire station) at the same time. If you would like to attend the workshop in Fortville, please contact Flory May at florylmay@gmail.com
