Books to Badges: Girls Exploring Parks & Possibility (G)

Books to Badges: Girls Exploring Parks & Possibility is a free, girls-only summer program for girls in grades K–3, created through a partnership between Girl Scouts of Central Indiana and the Hancock County Public Library. Designed especially for girls who are new to Girl Scouts, this engaging experience introduces families to the Girl Scout journey through reading, outdoor exploration, and hands-on activities.

This program is being built in connection with a Girl Scout Gold Award project at the library, highlighting the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and demonstrating the impact girls can make in their communities. It will also showcase the many resources and opportunities available at the library, giving girls a chance to explore everything the library has to offer.

Throughout the series, girls will explore different national parks through books and interactive activities while working toward earning National Park Service Junior Ranger badges. In addition, all participants will earn their Girl Scout Reading Badge, strengthening literacy skills while discovering the wonders of the outdoors.

The program is open to all girls in grades K–3. New Girl Scouts will receive a free summer membership, while current Girl Scouts are welcome to participate in the program activities. A completed Girl Scout registration form is required for participation in the series, which you can download and print from this page or inquire at the Greenfield Youth Desk. Following the program, families will have the opportunity to opt in and continue their Girl Scout experience for the upcoming membership year.

Books to Badges blends literacy, leadership, library exploration, and outdoor adventure into an exciting, no-cost introduction to Girl Scouts and the many possibilities available to girls.
